Conflict Management

Conflict Management is a critical element of effective communication.  It serves as a significant differentiator for highly effective leaders.

The Objectives of this 1 day class are: 

  • To identify factors that commonly contribute to the creation and perpetuation of conflict
  • To practice “untangling the knot” of conflict through:
    • Management of self and setting
    • Grounding in a shared and compelling purpose
    • Listening to understand
    • Finding common ground
    • Managing the path

 In this workshop you will learn tools and strategies to:  

  • Understand the difference between intent and interpretation
  • Develop practices to enable emotional self-management and the shift from reactivity to mindful balance and choice
  • Identify a shared and compelling purpose for conflict resolution
    (for example, restoring trust for the sake of the mission)
  • Attend to creation of a conducive time, space, tone and mindset for conversation
  • Identify and check assumptions and conclusions
  • Examine standards and the grounding for assessments
  • Practice active listening and respectful inquiry
  • Seek common ground and manage the path towards cooperation, compromise and resolution
