Susann Cook-Greuter developed the Leadership Maturity Framework (LMF) to describe developmental levels as part of her PhD at Harvard University.  This is the theory we recommend as it is supported by an assessment tool, the SCTi-MAP, which measures an individual’s developmental level.  This is currently the most rigorously validated, reliable and advanced assessment tool to assess adult leadership developmental.  It is based on the Washington University Sentence Completion Test (WUSCT) created by Jane Loevinger in 1978.  Bill Torbert, Professor of Management at Boston College, created new labels for the stages and added the concept of action logics. 

Metcalf & Associates uses the LDF as a primary tool to identify “Level 5 Leadership” and work with clients to identify developmental goals. This foundation enables leaders to understand their current developmental level compared to the level necessary to effectively navigate business transformation. The language of the nine levels allows us to identify significant differences in groups of people and tailor communication and processes to meet their needs.  We find the LDF to be a highly effective tool with employees at all levels within the organization.

In addition to guiding individual development, the LDF enables organizations to identify high potential employees, as measured by leadership developmental level, and position them within the organization to leverage these abilities.

We worked with Verbs, Ltd. In the development of Oracle ERP support documentation, application help, test scripts, eLearning modules, procedures, and training material for a company-wide ERP Oracle implementation. Oracle's Tutor Author and Publisher tools were used to develop Oracle documentation, including application help and desk manuals. Verbs, Ltd. also assisted in the development of training approaches that included distance learning, web-based learning, instructor-led training, job aids, and student assessments.
